College Bound

For a while now I have belonged to Upromise.

The premise behind the service is that you can turn your everyday spending into college savings.

This is achieved via the entering of your grocery store savings cards and/or via your credit card purchases. I did not right off enter all of my cards but when I did I began to reap the fruits.

They have partnered with well known companies and when you either buy their products on or offline you are credited with cash based on the amount that you have spent.

Pretty simple and with the rising costs of college nowadays, every little bit helps!

Check out their current sweepstakes.

Reading for Life!

I love books. They are one my life's greatest pleasures.

I love the fact that with a little imagination and the words of a story, you can be transformed, entertained or enlightened!

I also love that although my life is always on the move, I can still enjoy this pleasure at almost any time.

One of the services that I have checked out is Audible.

With this service you chose from over 26,000 titles, everything from horror
to the Wall Street Journal.

They also are offering the opportunity for you tolisten to two FREE audiobooks RISK-FREE.

BTW, one of my recommended selections is Garlic and Sapphires: The Secret Life of a Critic in Disguise by Ruth Reichl. Very funny!

Way Cool: Remember the Milk

Cool Site Alert:

Remember the Milk is an online reminder service that finds you either via email, IM, or text message to remind of the events, etc that you set up!

It's like having my own persistant personal assistant!

It's FREE and there is no software to download and to top it off, its pretty easy to use!

Ahh how Lush, no more wracking my brain to retain and remember it all!

An Artist You Might Enjoy

This is a jazz pianist that I came across on myspace.

He has a very relaxed, yet intense, New Orleans style along the lines of Harry Connick Jr. mixed with a clasical flair.

He just sent out a bulletin that his CD is available.

Check him out!

Scoot Scoot & 117 Miles Per Gallon To Boot

This is my new obsession...

The new 2007 C3 from Yamaha holds 9 gallons in the storage compartment! That alone makes me swoon for it.

Wow, I am going to test this first thing Saturday!

Free language Software Follow-up

Ok, a lot of times when I come across offers of "free" anything I am usually somewhat skeptical but I must say that the offer I posted in Sunday's More Back to Knowledge post has turned out to be a very pleasant surprise.

And after just a short while working with the software this morning, I got a refresher on the numbers and I can now name colors in Spanish and actually had fun leaning it.

And that excites me because this has been on my to do list for a long time!

So, I would definitely suggest that you check it out. It allows you to start at the most basic level and work your way up with electronic flash cards, voice direction, etc.

Sweepin' Easy

I spotted this online recently and I had to check it out.

As someone who at times has difficulty bending and who wants to spend the least amount of time possible cleaning, this speaks very loudly to me!

The Black & Decker SNC100 Sweep and Collect (broom and dustpan in one) has a motorized dust pan.

It runs off of 4 alkaline batteries, so you sweep, press the button, suck it up and dump it in the trash.

Dry Food Storage

One of my biggest pet peeves is to find a a cereal box with the top left open and the cereal stale!

So I love Zevro Dual Dry Food Dispenser.

Besides the fact that its' kinda cool looking I think it will motivate my picky 12 year old to actually at least eat some cereal for breakfast in the mornings!

Door Organization

Not only are these a great idea, they are cute to boot.

I am always taping things on the door that I do not want to forget on my way out and one of these will look way better!!

No more running around at the last minute looking for your keys or that letter that you need to get out or your cell phone!

The memo pads are also a great place for your to do list, so that it actually makes it out the door with you and gets done. You can also hang them on the rear view mirror once you get in the car.

I am loving these!

Keep 'em Organized

The biggest challenge most of the time in our household is keeping things organized.

This Set of 5 Plastic Organizer Boxes is practical and cute enough that my daughter would actually want them in her room.

So instead of her papers and supplies being all over her room where her brother (our dog) can eat them, she can neatly file them away!

They also have a matching Set of 5 Plastic CD Boxes.

Pop With Love!

This is adorable!

What better way to say hey kiddo's mama loves ya and can't we all get along (mornings are crazy at my house!!!!!)?

The Pop Art Toaster comes with double hearts, "LUV U," flower, snowflake, cake and smiley face plates to make toast that looks fun and sends a message.

Comes in either red, black, white, black/chrome or aqua and there are also 2 & 4 plate options available.

Put It In A Letter, Keep It Private or Note It!

Ahh..that lost art..actually writing a letter and putting a stamp on it and dropping it in the mailbox.

Where here is some incentive to revist old times...

These old school fold & mail stationery sets are so cool. You just write, fold, seal with one of the included stickers and sit back and wait for the recipients phone call!

And I wish that I had one of these when I was a yougin to keep my two nosey sisters and my Mother out of my private thoughts!

It comes w/ a lock and 2 keys and since they are practically giving it away with a clearance price of $4.99 I have to pick one up for me and my daughter!

Also, I am always folding pages in magazines and using sticky's to track finds in mags & newspapers and so imagine my excitement when I came across these.

They are wicked cute.

So now, I will use these to refer back to quotes, items to research or just really great articles. And I will use them on notes left for my daughter to get her attention and in my business files also as reminders of things to follow up on.

Wow! I can not believe that the summer is ending. Now that we have survived the crazy heat spell, the back to school dash begins and frankly it has never been easier for me.

I overheard someone the other day say that we as a society are just too dependent on technology and that may be true to a certain extent but the value that it adds to our life is immeasurable and that is one of the reasons why I write this blog.
